Novicap is an end-to-end working capital solutions provider focused on enabling CFOs/Finance teams of SMEs to pay their suppliers and collect from their customers. This includes short-term credit (factoring, supply chain finance and loans) and payment automation solutions.
With offices in Barcelona and Madrid, we are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to join our team. You will take full ownership of Novicap’s data infrastructure, strategy, and operations, building scalable systems to enable a fully automated B2B financial product suite. The role supports company-wide data accessibility, machine learning enablement, and governance, ensuring Novicap becomes a truly data-driven organization.

Your mission
As mentioned, your mission will be to take ownership of our data strategy, infrastructure, and operations. You will also work very closely with the Data Science team to support our ML initiatives. This is a very exciting opportunity for Novicap at this stage of our growth.
The Novicap Senior Data Engineer will be a key member of the Engineering Team, and will work across the business to:
Define and lead Novicap’s data strategy
Strategy documented and aligned with 3–5 year product/tech roadmap
Build and maintain the company’s data warehouse
Fully functional DW in production supporting analytics, ML, and compliance
Ensure GDPR-compliant data access and governance
Policies implemented and audits passed without issues
Establish modern data infrastructure (e.g., DBT, Airflow, AWS stack)
Operational stack in place with >99.9% uptime
Enable machine learning workflows
ML pipelines deployed and monitored in collaboration with DS team
Democratize access to high-quality data
Self-serve tools (e.g., Metabase) in place and adopted across teams
Promote a data-driven culture
Increased data usage and decision-making across departments.
In doing so, you will contribute to the achievement of Novicap’s long-term growth plans

Who will you work with?
You will report directly to the Head of Engineering. You will also work closely with the Data Science team and the rest of our colleagues across Barcelona, Madrid and the rest of Spain. A young and dynamic team that’s waiting for you with arms open!
You are the right fit if you have:
At least 8 years of proven experience in data engineering and data ops, ideally in high-growth or product-focused environments
Hands-on expertise with:
AWS (Redshift, S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.)
DBT and Airflow (or similar tools for transformation and orchestration)
Building and maintaining data warehouses and ETL/ELT pipelines
A solid understanding of data governance, security, and privacy regulations (GDPR experience required)
Experience supporting machine learning workflows in terms of data pipelines
Experience in setting up visualization tools such as Metabase, Looker etc.
Strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to align technical decisions with business outcomes
A business-minded and product-oriented approach—you care about what the data enables.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
Comfort thriving in a fast-paced, scaling environment with evolving priorities.
Fluency in Spanish and English
